Technology once again flourished and changed the face warfare and our world. The invention of the internal combustion engine in 1878 lead to the development of automobiles and airplanes. The development of the assembly line by Henry Ford lead to the mass production of automobiles and mass production of almost any item in industry. The Wright brother developing the airplane allowed for further developments in transportation and warfare. When the world entered World War I the advances in weaponry changed the face of battle. The invention of the machine gun lead to trench warfare and the invention of barbwire lead to heavy casualties in war. This lead to the invention of the tank in 1915 and 1916 were in response to the need to break the stalemate that trench warfare had caused. The advances in chemistry lead to the development of chemical weapons in the form of poisonous gas which lead to the development of gas masks. The war lead to the development of better firearms and artillery and the use of airplanes as recon units. Then came World War II which lead to the development of the atomic bomb and nuclear power. As our world kept moving toward the future new developments in science technology and warfare continues. The development of Magnetic levitation trains in Asia have opened up new possibilities in magnetic technology. The quest for a reusable and clean fuel source has lead to research into algae which can be produced quickly and cost efficient and can power vehicles without having to modify engines. Advances in science has lead to developments in medicine such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging, new medications to treat terminal illnesses and treatments for curing cancer and other diseases. Only the future knows what new technology will emerge. We might wake up one day and find a completely different world with flying vehicles, floating cities and limitless fuel or a world governed by robots with artificial intelligence. Our world is changing at a rapid pace just as it did back then only now we are the ones living history.
